Access for Students (A4S) allows schools to embark upon an exciting ‘cost neutral’ project to provide every child with a personal notebook. The project is supported by the E-learning foundation and does not affect existing budgets.
Pupils gain a notebook to use at school and home, increasing the ability of ‘Home Learning’. This notebook is bundled with excellent educational software and support/warranty.
The initiative helps bridge the ‘Digital Divide’, where pupils from low income families can have equal access to IT learning resources. A4S compliments the Government’s Digital Strategy of a 1:1 pupil/computer ratio.
The E-Learning foundation is a charitable organisation formed in 2001, funded originally by the Department for Education (Dfes) and Microsoft.
Its aims are to reduce the digital divide by working with schools and parents and carefully selected IT providers to ensure that ALL children have access to the learning resources that technology can make available, both at home and school.
- Parents make a monthly charitable donation to fund a notebook for their child
- Donations are collected and administered by the E-Learning Foundation
- The school receives a regular payment based on the donations received
- The scheme is ‘cost neutral’ to the school
A specially tailored notebook bundle (including excellent educational software and support) has been created for students, view here:
